Karadag Nature Museum, Dolphinarium and Aquarium near Feodosiya

Karadag Nature Museum

With one of the Crimea's best collections of flora and fauna from the Feodosiya area, the Crimean Peninsula and the Black Sea, the Karadag Nature Museum offers visitors a wealth of information about this varied and spectacular region. Also feautred is a collection of volcanic stones from the ancient Karadag volcano. Museum guides are available and happy to explain to you about the dolphins and the other sea creatures that the Karadag Nature preserve is working hard to protect.

Open: 8am to 4:30pm, closed on Mondays

Entrance Fee:5 UAH for adults,2 UAH for children.

Karadag Nature Museum also organize very popular tours of the Karadag Nature Reserve. These tours are the only way to see the Reserve and the beautiful mountain range of Karadag and its fascinating Black Sea coastline. If you come to Feodosiya, we highly recommend that you take this tour - and we can help you arrange it.

Karadag Nature Reserve Tour Details:

Tours depart twice daily from the Karadag Nature Reserve - between 8am and 9am in the morning and in the afternoon between 3 and 4pm. The tours last around 4 hours and cover a total distance of 7 kilometers. Tours take place everday except for Tuesdays from May through till the end of September (the high summer season in Feodosiya). The number of people on the tour is limited to between 20 and 25 people - if your group is smaller than this, then they will fit you in with other groups to make up the numbers.

The cost of the tour: 30 UAH for adults and 15 UAH for children.

Karadag Dolphinarium

Located close to Feodosiya, the Karadag Dolphinarium is part of the Karadag Nature Reserve, and is highly recommended as a day trip for all of those interested in nature or those who just love aquatic animals.

The Karadag Dolphinarium was established in 1966 as an experimental base for scientific work with sea mammals. At the present time fundamental investigations are being continued in the field of bioacoustics of dolphins and seals, as well as their behaviour and psychology are being studied here.

Two halls of the Dolphinarium give possibility to the visitors to familiarize themselves with its inhabitants - the Black Sea dolphins aphalines and northern fur-seals, these remarkable inhabitants of the "Ocean Planet".

You have an opportunity to appreciate at first hand the high qualities of these unusual and wonderful creatures, having enjoyed the splendour of their performance in the demonstrative program, full of music and fun, to feel their fascination and friendliness, to get pleasure from communication with them.

The Dolphinarium is open from June through till September.

They have 4 shows daily with dolphins and seals at 13:00, 15:00, 18:00 and at 21:00.

Entrance Fee: 50 UAH for adults, 25 UAH for children (younger than 6 years old). There is a 5 Grivna surcharge if you wish to take your camera in to the show.

Karadag Aquarium

When you visit the aquarium at the Karadag Nature Reserve, you will be able to see fish, turtles and other marine life from the Black Sea and the Azov Sea.

Open: everyday between 9am and 6:30pm.

Entrance Fee: 10 UAH for adults, 5 UAH for children.
